Skin Resurfacing Treatments

Scars have many causes, including acne, burns, surgery, accidents and even chickenpox. Whilst clinically not serious, they can make people more self-conscious and reduce confidence.

We can offer a number of suggestions and treatments:

  1. Jane Iredale Mineral Make-Up is often recommended by plastic surgeons to camouflage scars and pigmented marks. We can advise further and allow you to see first-hand how natural and effective this range really is;

  2. Cosmedix and Obagi Medical Peels can be helpful for very superficial scarring by removing the upper most layers of the skin to allow new layers to grow;

  3. Microdermabrasion again works by removing the top layers of the skin where superficial scars might lie, revealing younger, fresher skin;

  4. IPL produces a broadband light and is used to eliminate superficial skin irregularities to leave your skin totally rejuvenated;

  5. Nd:YAG Lasers can be used to treat scars in deeper layers of the skin;

  6. Silicone Gel Sheets can be useful for particularly raised/hypertrophic scars and keloids;

  7. Intra-Lesional Steroid Injections can also help with thickened hypertrophic or keloid scars;

  8. Dermal Fillers, on the other hand, can be used to treat pitted scars.

  9. UVB phototherapy is ideal for the treatment of pale or hypopigmented scars;

  10. The Erbium:YAG/Fractional Lasers are highly effective for deeply etched scarring and useful for laser skin resurfacing.

We do not yet provide all of these treatments but we can give you a free clinical assessment and advise appropriate centres or treat you ourselves for mild to moderate scars.
