How can IPL/Lasers treat Rosacea?

Precisely controlled strong pulses of filtered light are absorbed by the blood vessels, heating them to a point of destruction gradually leaving little or no trace of the original lesions.

There may be transient pin prick sensations during treatment and afterwards minor redness but we will minimise these side-effects by applying a cool pack and appropriate soothing gels before you leave.

Are there any other alternatives?

Yes, the main elements of successful rosacea treatment should include:

  1. Self-help measures such as avoiding excess sun exposure, caffeine or alcohol intake, cigarette smoking, spicy/rich foods, undue stress, etc;

  2. Antibiotics – your GP should be able to prescribe either topical or oral antibiotics and we recommend that these are tried for at least 6 months before considering laser treatment because they are often effective, and;

  3. Camouflage Cosmetics are a safe and effective way of concealing the appearance of rosacea lesions for those not yet ready for lasers. We can advise on the excellent, natural and hypo-allergenic mineral make-up range from Jane Iredale.
