What is Microdermabrasion?
In our opinion, this is far superior to manual techniques traditionally used to exfoliate because it allows a jet of inert, natural mineral crystals to be vacuumed across the skin thereby removing dead and damaged skin cells.
What is it useful for?
The Lynton skin abrasive with its integral micro-lifting vacuum is suitable for all skin types and for a wide range of problems, including rejuvenation, hyper-pigmentation, solar damage, fine lines around the eyes, mild-moderate acne scaring, rough, uneven textures, lax muscles and poor lymphatic drainage, etc.
Thus, a course of microdermabrasion will enhance the overall quality, feel and look of your skin.
How is it done?
We run a hand piece directly back and forth over the affected area, abrading it without heat and leaving you with softer, smoother, younger-looking and more uniform, brighter skin.
How long does it take?
The session for treating face and neck areas last about 30 minutes and the results are often instantaneous. The depth of treatment can be determined by your therapist by altering the flow rate and/or the speed of movement of the hand piece against your skin. However, as doctors we can also employ a larger crystal size for more stubborn skin problems.
How many treatments will I need?
Although the results are instantly noticeable, there is an additive benefit and thus we usually suggest an initial course of 6 treatments at weekly intervals, often a great idea before special occasions such as weddings. This can then be followed by periodic top-ups as you feel necessary, typically about every 3 months.
Is there any after care?
You will be given advice on general skin care on how to prolong the benefits of your microdermabrasion treatment, including the use of correct hydrating creams, sun blocks and cosmetics. We offer a totally holistic approach as we are not just interested in treating you but then leaving your skin exposed to the same irritants and pollutants again.
